Coal mines, closed by governor’s order, may get waiver to remain open

Pennsylvania’s coal mines closed Thursday night per Gov. Tom Wolf’s order that the physical locations of all non-life-sustaining businesses needed to close, but they could get permission to reopen in the very near future, two sources told the Business Times on Friday.

Both sources, well placed in the industry, told the Business Times that the Wolf administration could allow the coal mines to continue. Coal mines had been deemed non-life-sustaining, while natural gas and oil production industries…
