GE sees quarterly boost from pickup in aviation

General Electric Co. on Tuesday reported much-improved performance in the second quarter compared with the same period a year earlier, with customer orders up significantly in both its aviation and power businesses.

The second quarter last year came as GE felt the full weight of Covid-19’s effects on the global economy, with aviation — typically a bulwark pre-pandemic — particularly hard-hit.

This past quarter, orders across the company (NYSE: GE) were up 33% year-over-year, to $18.3 billion.…
