Maryland Public Service Commission extends moratorium on utility service shutoffs to November

Maryland’s utility regulatory agency has extended the state’s moratorium on electric, gas and water shutoffs through Nov. 15.

The Maryland Public Service Commission announced the “emergency action” Monday, a day before Gov. Larry Hogan’s executive order prohibiting service terminations and late fees was set to expire. The order aimed to help residents across the state deal with the economic impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.
