Pipe manufacturing co. laying off hundreds in Houston, elsewhere amid low oil prices

Luxembourg-based steel pipe manufacturer Tenaris SA (NYSE: TS) is reducing operations and laying off a combined 900 employees across multiple U.S. sites in response to low oil prices and other market pressures.

In the Houston area, the company is planning a temporary significant reduction in operations at its threading plant at 2600 Grand Parkway in Baytown. The reduction will begin on April 17, with 223 employees slated to be laid off, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification…
