Plant Vogtle expansion delays to cost Georgia Power $460M

Georgia Power’s Plant Vogtle expansion is going to miss its deadlines again, costing the company about $460 million.

Each of the two new nuclear reactors at the Vogtle Electric Generating Plant near Waynesboro, Ga. will take three or four additional months to begin commercial operations, the Southern Company subsidiary announced Thursday.

Georgia Power estimates Unit 3 will be in service by the second quarter of 2022 and Unit 4 will be operational in the first quarter of 2023.
