Study says Duke Energy customers could pay $4.8B for plants that don’t produce power

The report contends the possibility that Duke Energy customers might have to pay $4.8 billion for plants that will no longer be producing energy can be compared to to how the company’s failure to account for long-range expenses of coal ash left customers on the hook for some $7.5 billion now that the costs are coming due.
