With time running out, iconic Carew Tower skyscraper avoids power shutoff

Days before the power was scheduled to be disconnected from one of downtown Cincinnati’s most recognizable buildings, provider Duke Energy and the building’s owner averted lights out at Carew Tower.

A spokeswoman for Duke Energy confirmed Tuesday that a payment had been made Monday afternoon to avoid the shutoff of power at one of downtown’s tallest skyscrapers. Duke had hand-delivered letters to tenants in Carew Tower warning them that it planned to cut power to the building after noon Feb. 10.
