Woodlands workforce housing merger gets go-ahead from shareholders

Los Angeles-based Platinum Eagle Acquisition Corp. (Nasdaq: EAGL) has gotten permission from its shareholders to close its upcoming merger with The Woodlands-based Target Logistics Management LLC, which goes by Target Lodging, and RL Signor Holdings LLC, which goes by Signor Lodging.

EQT names new COO

EQT Corp. announced the appointment of Gary Gould as executive vice president and COO on Thursday.

He is set to start the job next month.

The appointment comes as EQT (NYSE:EQT) CEO Rob McNally is facing pressure from former Rice Energy executives Derek and Toby Rice.

McNally, though, sees Gould’s appointment as a step in the right direction for the company, which is looking to cut costs.

State sues Exxon Mobil over South Jersey pollution

The state of New Jersey is suing Exxon Mobil Corp. over petroleum products it alleges were dumped at the petrochemical company’s Gloucester County property in South Jersey over a 70-year period.

The state’s Department of Environmental Protection is the plaintiff in the lawsuit filed Thursday, seeking to make Exxon pay for pollution clean-up of petroleum products containing PCBs, dumped at a 12-acre property in Paulsboro and East Greenwich near the Delaware River, known as the company’s Lail site.
