Duke Energy appealing SC rate-case rulings tied to coal-ash recovery costs

Duke Energy Carolinas and Duke Energy Progress are taking their arguments that the S.C. Public Service Commission’s orders on their most recent rate cases were arbitrary and unconstitutional to the State Supreme Court.

Last month, the PSC declined to reconsider the utilities’ challenges to a number of issues. The two utilities contend that the commission improperly barred their recovery to more than $800 million in coal-ash clean-up costs.
